Don't be confused: reading about how to write is not the same as writing.
Don't read tips on how to improve your writing and think that will improve your writing. You actually have to write to do that. You have to apply and put into practice the things you learn here and elsewhere. Otherwise, you're wasting your time.
A related thought: It's much easier to learn how to write a novel in theory than it is to write a novel. It's a lot easier to read blog posts on how to write good short stories than it is to actually write good short stories.
Don't let your most important and life-altering projects exist solely on a theoretical level. Don't spend quite so much time reading blogs like this one. Write instead.
