Have you put any work out in front of readers lately? (I mean real readers, not your friends or your family.)
If not, why not?
If you want to be a fiction writer, start a website or a blog and start putting your work out there. Write for Helium.com or some other site that accepts submissions (but don't expect to make any money from it). Find some fiction writing blogs and join in the discussion. Join NaNoWriMo. If you want to be a blogger, start a blog and be one.
Embrace these experiences and see what you learn from them.
The entire purpose of putting your work out there is this: it forces you to learn things that you never even imagined you needed to learn. You'll also find, eventually, that it doesn't really matter if absolutely everything you write completely sucks. You'll learn from it and get better.
Just going through the experience will teach you far more than sitting around theorizing about the idea.
Don't hide your light under a basket. Put your work out there!
