"Make definite assertions."
This is another favorite quote from my favorite short book on writing: Strunk & White's The Elements of Style.
Besides being a perfect economy of words, this quote rings utterly true--particularly in the world of blogging.
Who wants to read a blog post filled with qualified language and unsure opinions? What good is a post filled with on-the-one-hand/on-the-other-hand statements? Does that provoke debate? Does it stimulate comments and conversation? Will it bring you new readers?
Court controversy. Don't hide your ideas--bring them out into the light and let them fend for themselves.
